310 ACT school students last week competed in the Subaru ACT Southern NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships at Perisher. There were 44 schools entered in the competition across the ACT and Southern NSW, with just over half coming from Canberra. The schools from Jindabyne and Cooma have a big advantage as they get to ski one day a week with their school and able to to ski or ride every weekend in winter. Nether less, the Canberra schools made many team and individual podium finishes.
Radford Colleges team of 40 competitors, were the most successful ACT team with 11 team trophies won and 8 individual trophies. Ben Hood from Radford College came 1st in the Alpine and Skier X in Division 2 and his team placed 1st in both events as well.
Canberra Girls Grammar came away with 7 team trophies and 2 individual trophies. Canberra Grammar School scored 5 team places and 4 individuals were awarded Individual awards. Alia Moore from Telopea Park School placed 1st in the Skier X and Alpine in Division 2 and her fellow school competitors picked up 2 additional Individual trophies and 2 team places.
In the Primary Schools, Canberra Girls Grammar Junior and Canberra Grammar Junior came away with several team and individual places.
The top competitors from this Regional event will go on to compete at the Subaru Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships at Perisher in September. The Canberra schools will be up against the best school competitors from NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

The SnowSports ACT Ski and Snowboard Sale and Expo was held on Saturday May 8 and we would like to thank all the Volunteers who helped out to make it a succesful day.
All profits from the event will go towards supporting our programs, events and junior athletes.
Irene Dunn from South Australia won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the World Masters Winter Games competing in the disciplines of cross country skiing and biathlon in the Women’s 40-44 age category.
Her Gold medal in the 10 km Individual Biathlon event was a great result, considering she beat a Russian ex-Olympic biathlon Gold medallist from the 1994 Lillehammer Games.
Heimo Thaurer wins a bronze in the Slalom at the first World Winter Masters Games. more
The 2010 SnowSports ACT Dryland Training Program will commence in February. This program is open for anyone looking to get fit for the snow season. more

Alia Moore and Ben Hood have been selected for the Australian Children's squad. more
The ANC (Australian New Zealand Continental Cup Series) yellow bibs are awarded to the best placed Australian or New Zealand racer in each of the four disciplines. more
At the Ski and Snowboard Australia National Children’s Championships at Hotham, Ben Hood was awarded equal overall champion in his age group. more
