Perisher Blue Winter Sports Club

From recreational skiing and riding, to racing and competition at an elite level, the Perisher Blue Winter Sports Club (WSC) provides programs for snow lovers of all ages of an intermediate to advanced skiing or riding ability. Perisher Blue recruit highly qualified coaches from Australia and around the world to provide the best ski and board training programs – programs that are challenging, fun and rewarding.

Thredbo Ski Racing Club

The Thredbo Ski Racing Club (TSRC) has been a top providers of alpine ski race training in Australia for the past 3 decades. The TSRC helps facilitates the development of many ski racers. From young eager competent skiers, to the highest level racers in the country.

Over the years it has had many great successes, with many members and athletes reaching high levels. This includes many members (both current and past) on Olympic teams, Olympic Shadow teams, National teams and State teams. The TSRC has been the home to many National and National Junior Champions over the years. In the last World Championships held in Are, Sweden (February 2007), 4 out of the 5 members on the Australian Team were from the TSRC. A fifth did not make it due to injuries.

Sun Peaks Family Cup - Canada

The Sun Peaks Family Cup is an annual event conducted by the Australian Sun Peaks Family Cup Committee in association with the Canadian partners from Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Tourism. The Australian Committee is headed by Andrew Wenham & Donna Orr along with Steve & Jenny Cooper, David Joseph, Catherine Wenham, David Baker and Alan “Barney” Davis. Our Canadian partners include Lisa Sohni, Christopher Nicolson, Ashley Tait, Wendy Patriquin and Greg Govett.

With over 120 competitors in 2008 from three Countries (Australia, New Zealand & Canada) Australia won the coveted Sun Peaks Family Cup Country Award closely followed by Canada and New Zealand. Following another very successful event at Sun Peaks Resort on January 12th 2008 the Sun Peaks Family Cup is once again scheduled for January 10th 2009.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup is a family style Snowsports event open to any individual, family or team from any Country. The youngest competitor to date was 4yrs 10mths and the oldest (declared age) was 71yrs.

The event is conducted on a modified Dual GS type course and is suitable for all standards of competitor.

Awards are presented to all competitors who place in the top three of their respective division along with awards for the top three placing in the smallest time difference between two eligible timed runs on the course. Each competitor is allowed one run on each of the Blue and Red Courses which comprise approx 26 gates (2008) per course.

Apart from the Snowsports event there are many other activities planned for the 2009 event and in 2008 they included a “Skating Party”, “Village Parade with Harry the Bear” and the “Awards function dinner / Tubing Party”.

The entry fee $25 (2008) includes the Snowsports event, souvenir race bib, skating party, awards presentation dinner and tubing party.

In 2009 many other activities, awards and special programs including accommodation packages are available through our generous sponsors and they shall be published shortly

SnowSports ACT Scholarships

At our Annual SnowSports Presentation Dinner, selected ACT Athletes are awarded scholarships due to their achievements throughout the season.

ACTAS (ACT Academy of Sport) Individual Scholarships

Assistance is only available to those athletes who are registered with a recognised ACT sporting organisation (SnowSports ACT). Applications for assistance must be submitted through SnowSports ACT for endorsement.

Scholarships are only available to those athletes who compete in junior or open competition. Athletes must be at least 16 years of age. Scholarships are not available for athletes in veterans or masters age groups.

Selection guidelines: Greatest consideration will be given to applications from athletes who are progressing along the national selection pathway to Olympic Events.

Athletes will be measured against: International top 10 senior or youth ranking, National Top 3 senior or youth ranking, member of a National Senior Team in team sports.

Applications are due at the end of the Calendar Year. SnowSports ACT will forward Applications forms to ACT members.

Perisher Blue Winter Sports Club Athlete Scholarships

All athletes participating in a full-time Winter Sports Club program (excluding Mini Mites, Junior Development Team, School Holiday Programs and Camps) are eligible to apply for a 2009 sponsorship. Applications will be reviewed and successful applicants will be invited to an interview. Successful applicants will be selected by a panel after the interview process. Application forms will be available from the WSC website.
